Serious road crash on Seafield Road, Ayr
Officers from the Road Policing Unit at Irvine are continuing their enquiries and appealing for witnesses after a serious road crash on Friday, 5 March 2021.
Around 4.10pm on Friday afternoon, a 19 year-old woman was crossing Seafield Road, at its junction with Racecourse Road in Ayr, when she was struck by a Renault Master van.
Police and Ambulance attended. The 19 year-old woman was taken by Ambulance to University Hospital Ayr, then later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she is being treated for a head injury. Hospital staff describe her condition as critical.
Inspector Greg Dinnie from the Divisional Road Policing Unit said: “The 19 year-old woman was crossing the road with her friend when she was struck by the van. This is a very busy junction and I would urge any witnesses to this crash, who have not yet spoken to police to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone driving on this road near this junction around the time of the crash who has dash-cam footage to contact us. Anyone with any information that may assist our ongoing investigation is asked to contact us through 101 quoting reference number 2159 of 5 March.”
