Officers arrest and charge a fifth man for wilful fireraising in Greenock

Police in Greenock have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man following a wilful fireraising at a property on Cumberland Road.

The incident happened on Saturday, 19 September, 2020.

The man is due to appear in Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, 7 June, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Superintendent Gerry McBride said: “This is the fifth arrest and charge in connection with the incident at Cumberland Road and another significant development in our investigations into a number of fireraisings in the area.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and I would continue to urge anyone with information to contact police.”
