Appeal for witnesses following disturbance, Duns Road, Gifford
Officers in Gifford are appealing for witnesses following reports of a disturbance at a local shop and Duns Road in Gifford.
Around 6.50pm on Monday, 31 May, we received reports of a man causing a disturbance and vandalising property within a shop on Duns Road. He assaulted a 46-year old man within the shop before exiting the premises onto the street where he assaulted another man, aged 55-years-old. He then smashed the windows of two cars, a Mitsubishi and a Land Rover, before heading in the direction of The Wynd.
No one was seriously injured during the incident, but significant damage was caused both within the shop and to the cars which were targeted.
The man responsible is described as being white, bald, of a stocky build and in his forties. At the time he was wearing a black t-shirt, black jogging bottoms and white trainers.
Sergeant Ryan Gilhooly of Haddington police station said: “This incident caused significant damage and distress to those involved who, thankfully, were not seriously injured.
“We are keen to trace the man responsible as soon as possible and would urge anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
