Appeal for information following suspicious fire in Fortrose Gardens in Strathaven
Detectives are continuing enquiries following a suspicious fire in Strathaven on Saturday, 19 June 2021.
Around 12.20am, police received a report of two cars and a house on fire in Fortrose Gardens, Strathaven. Emergency services attended the fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No-one was injured in the incident.
Both cars were set on fire resulting in the house also catching fire. The cars and the house have sustained significant damage. An investigation into the circumstances is under way.
Enquiries so far have established a male in dark clothing was seen in the area around the time the fire started.
Officers are also checking for any relevant CCTV footage for review which could assist in the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin McGhee said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident. Did you notice anything suspicious or see anyone acting oddly. I would ask any motorists or taxi-drivers with dash cam devices to check their footage as the device may have captured images which could assist our investigation. Any small piece of information could assist us in identifying who is responsible for this attack.”
