CCTV appeal following serious road crash in Saltcoats

Police in Saltcoats have released CCTV images following a serious road crash in the Braes Road area of the town.

The incident happened around 1.10pm on Thursday, 29 April, 2021, when a 62-year-old cyclist, was involved in a collision. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

Officers believe the man in the images, who was in the area at the time, can help with their enquiries. He is described as white, of medium build, around 25 to 35 years-old. He was wearing a light coloured top, shorts and a dark cap and driving a small black or dark-coloured hatchback.

Sergeant Ian Thornton, from the road policing unit in Irvine, said: “As part of our ongoing investigation we are eager to identify the man driving the dark coloured hatchback as he may have information that can assist us.

“Anyone with information, or the man himself if he sees this appeal, is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident 1464 of Thursday, 29 April, 2021.”
