Appeal following fire and vandalism at yard in Old Kirkpatrick

Officers are appealing for the help of the public after a yard in Lusset Glen, Old Kirkpatrick, was vandalised and a generator set on fire.

The incident happened around 9.15pm on Monday, 12 July, at the yard under the Erskine Bridge at the rear of St Patrick’s Church.

The yard was broken into and a mobile generator was removed and set alight along with scaffolding platforms and fencing. A number of youths, seven males and two females, were seen in the area and officers are keen to speak to them.

They are described as aged between 15 and 17-years-old. They were mostly wearing dark clothing, including hoodies, tracksuits and shorts. One of the females was wearing a shiny puffa style jacket with a black hood.

Detective Constable Mark Gillies said: “This was a reckless act that caused a considerable amount of damage. It is lucky that no one was injured.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and the youths who were seen in the area as we believe they can help with our enquiries.
