Appeal for information after an 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on a cycle path in Airdrie
Police Scotland is appealing for information after an 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man in Airdire.
The woman was walking on the cycle path between Cairnhill Road and Calderbank Road at around 3.25pm on Tuesday, 12 January, 2021 when the incident took place.
A man approached her from the Cairnhill Road area and sexually assaulted her. She was unhurt by the incident and didn’t require medical treatment, but was very distressed.
Detective Sergeant Mark Nelson of CID at Coatbridge Police Station said :
“The victim was very upset by the actions of the man. He is described as 20-30 years old, 5’3” to 5’4 inches tall, of slim build, with dark eyebrows. He wearing a dark grey to charcoal coloured light weight puffa jacket, very light or pale grey jogging bottoms which were tucked into his black socks. He was also wearing black trainers and a bright orange snood covering his face.
“The area is popular with dog walkers and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.
