Serious assault – Lainshaw area of Kilwinning

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault which occurred in Kilwinning on the evening of Friday, 19 February, 2021.

A 26-year-old man sustained a significant facial injury after being attacked by another man around 5pm in the Lainshaw area.

He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment and later released.

The incident was reported to police on Wednesday, 24 February, and enquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible.

The suspect is described as white, early twenties, approximately 6ft, of skinny build, with dark blonde hair. He was wearing a blue or purple jacket and is believed to have made off in the direction of Muirside, towards Pennyburn Road.

Detective Constable Will Thomson from Saltcoats CID said: "This incident happened during daylight hours in a residential area and the victim has sustained a significant injury, which will leave permanent scarring.

“I am appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened, or noticed a man matching the above description in the area around the time of the attack. I am also appealing for drivers with dashcams to review their footage for around that time.
