Appeal following wilful fire-raising in Cumbernauld
Police are appealing for information following an incident of wilful fire-raising in Cumbernauld.
The incident, involving a blue BMW X5, took place around 10.30pm on Sunday, 19 December, in a car park near Millcroft Road.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fire was extinguished safely. There were no reports of any injuries.
The suspect is described as a slim male in his 20s, possibly of eastern European origin, around 5ft 8in in height, with thick black hair. He was dressed in all black with a sports jacket on.
It is believed the man ran off in the direction of Glenhove Road.
Detective Constable David Forde of Police Scotland’s Coatbridge CID said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt as a result of this reckless act.
“We are looking for the public’s help to try and identify the person involved and anyone with any information is asked to speak to police.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who hasn’t already spoken to police, or who saw anyone matching the description above to get in touch.”
