Officers appeal for information after lorries crash near Thorntonloch
Officers are appealing for information from the public after a man was serious injured following a collision between two HGVs on the A1 near Thorntonloch yesterday morning.
Around 10.10am on Thursday, 26 August, both vehicles were travelling north on the A1, around half a mile north of Torness Power Station, when they collided as they approached temporary roadworks.
Emergency services attended and a 22-year-old man was taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious leg injuries.
As a result of the incident, bitumen spilled onto the road and therefore it had to be closed for over 12 hours for it to be cleared.
Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said:
“We are appealing for anyone who was driving in this area yesterday morning who may have seen the vehicles involved, or has dash-cam footage that can help us.
“A man has been seriously injured and it is vital we find out exactly what caused this crash.”
