Man who died in fatal crash involving car and pedestrian on Prestwick Loop Road named
We can confirm the identity of a man who died following a fatal crash on the A79 near Prestwick on Friday, 13 August, 2021.
He was local man 42-year-old Paul Donachie.
The crash happened at around 11.20pm on the southbound carriageway of the A79, a short distance from the junction with Station Road, Monkton and involved a silver Skoda Octavia and pedestrian.
Emergency services attended however Mr Donachie, the pedestrian, died at the scene. The driver of the car, a 49-year-old man, was uninjured.
The roadway was closed for around seven hours for collision investigation to be conducted at the scene.
Sergeant Scott Sutherland of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Paul Donachie and our investigation continues into this crash.
“I would ask again for any driver using this route, who may have saw Mr Donachie or the Skoda immediately prior to the collision, to get in touch with officers.
“Anyone recording with dash cam who may have driven this route on Friday night should check their footage and provide anything relevant to us as soon as possible.”
