Man charged in connection with assault with intent to rob, Melville Terrace, Edinburgh

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault with intent to rob incident which happened in Edinburgh.

The incident happened at around 12.05am on Thursday, 5 August, 2021, as a 23-year-old woman was walking on Melville Terrace near to the junction with Moncrieff Terrace.

A 41-year-old man was due to appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday, 23 August, 2021), in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Gary Smyth of Gayfield CID said: “We would like to thank the local community who assisted while our investigation was ongoing and I’d like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare. When they do occur we always investigate thoroughly to ensure those involved are identified and reported for prosecution.”
