Appeal for witnesses after man approached girl in Maybole

Officers are investigating a report that a man approached and spoke with a 10-year-old girl in the Glebe Crescent area of Maybole during the evening of Tuesday, 17 August, 2021. The girl was unharmed.

The man is described as quite tall, slim and was possibly wearing a hat or had his hood up, he also had a dog with him.

Detective Constable Suzanne Gardiner from the Public Protection Unit said: “This has been a frightening experience for the young girl involved and we are keen to trace the man in question.

“Anyone who may have seen someone fitting his description in the area that night or who has any information, is asked to contact police via 101 quoting incident reference 3676 of 17 August.

“Enquiries are ongoing and officers will give the area extra attention.”
