Appeal following fatal crash on B7066, Glasgow and Edinburgh Road, near Newhouse
Police Scotland is appealing with witnesses following a fatal crash in North Lanarkshire.
The incident happened at around 9.35am on Monday, 12 April, 2021 on the B7066, Glasgow and Edinburgh Road, at the junction with Bothwellshields Road near Newhouse.
A black Vauxhall combo van was involved in a crash with a green CLAAS tractor which was pulling a red trailer. A second tractor, a green and yellow John Deer drawing a trailer, was also travelling at the time of the incident but was not involved in the crash.
Emergency services attended however the driver of the van, a 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither tractor driver was injured. The driver of the CLAAS tractor was arrested at the scene and has been released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed until approximately 5.30pm for collision investigation to be conducted at the scene.
Sergeant Craig McDonald from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit based in Motherwell, said:
“Our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of the man who lost his life in this crash.
“Our investigation into how the crash happened is ongoing and to assist with that I’d ask anyone that may have witnessed the crash, or the vehicles beforehand, to get in touch with police.
“I would appeal to drivers with dash cam who were in the area around the time of the collision to check their systems for any relevant footage which may be of assistance.”
