Human Remains Found, Whitehill Road, Glenrothes

Police Scotland officers are working to identify human remains found around 5.20pm on Sunday, 27 September, 2020, at an industrial estate on Whitehill Road, Glenrothes.

Officers, supported by specialist forensic teams, are still at the scene today (Monday, 28 September, 2020) which has been cordoned off.

Detective Inspector Christopher Dow, the senior officer investigating the discovery, said: “A full investigation is underway to establish the person’s identity and the circumstances surrounding how they came to be there, as well as what may have happened. Enquiries are still at an early stage.

“We're contacting relatives of long term missing people in the local area, and will continue to keep them updated during the investigation. Our thoughts are with them all at this difficult time.”
