Serious road crash – Cairneyhill
Road Policing Officers are continuing their inquires and appealing for information after a serious road crash in Cairneyhill on Monday, 19 October, 2020.
Around 1.50pm on Monday afternoon, a 74 year-old man was driving a red Vauxhall Corsa on the A994 at the roundabout junction with the A985, Cairneyhill, when it appears that the vehicle lost control, came off the roadway and struck a tree.
Emergency services attended and the 74 year-old male driver and his 74 year-old female passenger were taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where they are being treated for their injuries. Hospital staff describe the condition of the female passenger as critical, and the condition of the male driver as serious.
Sergeant Colin Morrison from the Road Policing Unit based at Glenrothes said: “Our investigation to establish the cause of this road crash is continuing.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place, or anyone who was driving on this road around the time of the crash who has dash-cam footage to please contact us.”
