Fatal road crash - Lanark

A 66 year-old woman has died following a road crash in Lanark on Tuesday, 3 March 2020.
Around 3pm on Tuesday afternoon, a road crash involving two cars, a Vauxhall Zafira and a Ford Focus, took place on Lanark Road, Lanark.
Emergency services attended however a 66 year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Vauxhall Zafira was pronounced dead at the scene.
Relatives are aware. A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The 48 year-old driver of the Vauxhall Zafira was taken to the University Hospital in Wishaw where hospital staff describe her condition as stable.
The 24 year-old driver of the Ford Focus was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital in Wishaw where hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
Sergeant Craig McDonald of the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell is appealing for any witnesses. He said: “Our investigation into this crash is continuing. I would appeal to any witnesses to this crash, or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash cam footage to contact us.
“Information can be passed to the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell through 101 quoting reference number 1904 of 3rd March.”
