Appeal following serious assault in Ardrossan
Police in Ardrossan are appealing for information after a serious assault in the town.
The incident happened around 12.40pm on Thursday, 17 December, on the bridge joining Park Road with Barrie Terrace.
A 48-year-old man was approached from behind and assaulted.
The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries and released a short time later.
The suspect is described as man around 6ft tall, spoke with a local accent and at the time was dressed all in black with his face covered by a mask.
Detective Constable Andrew Dunlop of Saltcoats CID said: “This was a despicable attack which is likely to leave the victim with life-long scars and we are keen to trace the person responsible.
“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time or saw anything suspicious or someone matching the above description to get in touch as soon as possible.
“Likewise, if you were driving in the area and were recording via dashcam please check your footage and contact police with anything of relevance.”
