Man charged in connection with death in Wishaw

Police Scotland can confirm a 28-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man in Wishaw.
Officers were called to Carron Street in Wishaw around 2.05am on Tuesday, 14 April, 2020 following a disturbance.
The 24-year-old was taken to University Hospital Wishaw following the incident but died a short time later. He can now be named as Thomas Nelson.
A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course and the man is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court tomorrow. (Wednesday, 15 April, 2020)
Detective Inspector John Easton from the Major Investigations team said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Thomas at this very difficult time.
“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing and we are keen to talk to anyone who may have information or who may have seen what happened.”
