Don't Be That Guy
THAT GUY is a campaign from Police Scotland that began in 2021 and aims to reduce rape, serious sexual assault and harassment by having frank conversations with men about attitudes and behaviour around women.
Women should be able to go about their daily lives without worrying about being sexually harassed, assaulted or raped. But for far too many women that’s not the case.
Men can make a real difference by taking a hard look at our attitudes and behaviour, at home, at work and socialising with our mates.
As men, we need to stop contributing to a culture that targets, minimises, demeans and brutalises women.
We need to talk openly to our male friends and colleagues about behaviour that’s damaging to women and puts men at risk of offending.
Who is the campaign aimed at?
We’re asking men in Scotland aged 18-35 to join this important conversation and play their part in preventing sexual violence towards women.

Men can help stop sexual violence before it starts.
Speak up and #DontBeThatGuy who stays silent.
Most guys don’t look in the mirror and see a problem. But it’s staring us in the face. Sexual violence begins long before you think it does.
It’s not “just banter”. We all have a part to play when it comes to preventing sexual violence.
Having a quiet word with a mate at the right time could stop sexual offending before it starts.
It isn’t about calling out or shaming mates who step out of line, it’s about having the conversation and being the mate who stops a friend doing something they will regret.
Don’t be that guy who stands by and says nothing.
