Our Campaign
Following the successful launch of our #GetHelpOrGetCaught campaign to tackle online child sexual abuse earlier this year (April, 2020) we are relaunching the campaign for a second phase. The second phase will run from 16 November 2020 until March 2021.
As part of our prevention strategy for child sexual abuse we want to talk to offenders and convey to them that grooming children for sexual purposes is not acceptable and they will be caught. The aim of this campaign is to stop perpetrators from offending by encouraging them to seek help by contacting Stop It Now! Scotland.
Stop it Now! Scotland offers a confidential support service for offenders and those concerned about their thoughts or actions. For further guidance and information, visit Stop it Now! Scotland.
The #GetHelpOrGetCaught campaign is targeted at those who feel they might be at risk of committing an offence and perpetrators who use social media, chatrooms and messaging apps to target children online to groom them for sexual purposes.
Our message to perpetrators is clear:
- Targeting young people online for any sexually motivated purpose is wrong and you will get caught.
- You are putting yourself at risk of public exposure, losing your family, your home, employment and liberty - You are not anonymous. You are accountable. You will be caught.
- There is confidential help available from Stop it Now! Scotland.
