When you apply there are a few things to remember that will help make the process quicker and smoother for us, and for you. So here are a few tips.
Make sure you know what level of competencies are going to be used for the selection process - you will find these on the advert and role profile. Before you start completing the application form please ensure you read the application guidance notes and familiarise yourself with the Competency and Values Framework which are available in the advert for the role.
Make sure your application is completed in full and that you've provided all the relevant information and evidence of relevant experience.
Your application will ne completed electronically on the e-recruitment system. You will be taken to the system on making an application from the current vacancies.
We would also encourage you to inform us of any adjustment that you may need during the recruitment process which will allow us to support your recruitment journey. This can be completed as part of the application process.
What we do with your application
First, we'll sift all the correctly completed applications forms we receive against the criteria set out for the job.
It is a competitive process so those applications with the strongest evidence are more likely to be selected to progress to the next stage.
For a few roles - some form of testing may be required.
The shortlist for interviews will be finalised.
Interviews are arranged and carried out by the specific division or department connected with the vacancy.
If following interview you are the preferred candidate you will be required to complete our National Vetting Form for police staff. Full disclosure is essential and vetting is undertaken by the Vetting Unit. This will include financial history checks. This process can on occasion take up to several weeks.
Once the vetting is complete, a formal offer of appointment will be made and you will be required to complete a confidential health questionnaire which our Occupational Health team will review.
References will also be sought at this stage.
Once all requisite checks and references are completed your start date and induction training will be confirmed.
