CopStrong Strength and Conditioning Programme
CopStrong is the Police Scotland functional strength and conditioning programme.
It is designed to be used by officers and staff to obtain and maintain operational fitness in order to reduce the chance of injury and improve work performance.
The content has been written and developed by the Physical Education Department at the Scottish Police College in collaboration with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.
The programming within CopStrong has been developed to be utilised by officers and staff of any ability using different equipment types or no equipment at all.
What the programmes have in common, however, is that they target functional movement patterns best matched to those required in a policing context.
Exercises in the programmes are linked to over 200 videos which demonstrate correct exercise form.
The Physical Education Department at the Scottish Police College can offer any officer or staff member personalised advice to meet individual strength and conditioning requirements.
The CopStrong programme will evolve over time with further role-specific programming being added, as well as advice and guidance on nutrition, equipment for SPRA gymnasiums and a peer mentoring network within Divisions.
