External Liaison
The Strategic Engagement Coordination Unit (SECU) supports ongoing engagement with key external stakeholders.
This includes Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS,) the Scottish Police Authority (SPA), Scottish Government (SG), Scottish Parliament, Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) and Society of Local Chief Executives (SOLACE).
SECU’s role is to make sure Police Scotland has a corporate approach when working with the above.
They will make sure there's a consistent approach to information exchange and access is given to the relevant parts of the organisation.
SECU gives assistance to make sure engagement is with the appropriate external partner. It also makes sure it is at the right level and using the correct reporting/information exchange tools.
As well as SECU, local divisions continue to maintain their excellent engagement and relationships with local partners.
This is important because local stakeholder engagement is important to effectively deliver policing to the communities of Scotland.
SECU is part of Executive Support and works from Police Headquarters at Tulliallan.
